About Talmer Bank and Trust

Our Story

Talmer. It's a different kind of name for a bank, isn't it? Well, we're a very different kind of bank. Our name combines the last name of the grandfather of David T. Provost, Chairman and CEO of Talmer Bank and Trust (Talmage) with the last name of the grandfather of Gary Torgow, Chairman of Talmer Bancorp, Inc. (Merzon). Their grandfathers were two remarkable humanitarians who never met, but shared a common purpose - to help others and to enrich the lives of their communities.

How do the lives of men who lived decades ago affect Talmer customers today? By continuing their commitment to serve and support the local communities where we live and work.

At Talmer Bank and Trust being a community bank isn’t just our business, it’s our mission. We understand the important role a community bank plays in the growth and vitality of the area it serves and that is why we take great pride in being invested financially and emotionally in the communities we call home.

Through our acquisitions over the years, we have given great companies and their employees a second chance and helped reignite their communities. Over the past several years, together we have been able to retain hundreds of local jobs, restore customer confidence, and continue to give back and support local initiatives. Together we are moving forward in a position of strength to not only provide financial solutions to our neighbors and local businesses but to deliver on our commitment of community, integrity and service.

Yes there are other banks that promise such things. But we have something more at stake that inspires us to actually deliver - our family heritage.
